Is it faster than 380?

Re: Leaked OS: Bold 9700 6.0.0.418

It seems a bit faster, but it also gives me more memory.

Unfortunately, my SD card crashed!

Curser is back in the SMS department and the new RIM RSS feeder is working nice with this new leak. And it seems more sturdier, more together for me. I'm starting to like Mondays. :)

Is the feed reader part of this build or do you need to install it separately?

You'll need to download that separately, I am pretty sure, as the BlackBerry News Feed app was just released today, and this OS has been floating around a day or so before.

Re: Leaked OS: Bold 9700 6.0.0.418

Didn't notice a vendor.xml file either. So very helpful! :)

Installed on top of 380 with no issues. BES activation doing it's thing after the final reboot. ~20 minutes from start to finish.

TMobile and UMA appears to be ok.

Installed and running so far the most solid leaked OS6 for the 9700 hands down. Highly recommend upgrading to this.

Your BB's done - 507 means basically NO OS to boot.
Now you need to Javawipe and reload OS6. There are other ways, but this is easy and will get you going fast.
Did you do this OTA or from the DM?

I'm using Pandora 1.1.5.1 on my Bold 9700 w/OS 6.0.0.358 without any problems.

Still haven't decided if upgrading to .418 --- I'll wait and see if the good news (no memory leaks, etc) continues over the next few days.

Great release...liked it a lot over the earlier version from speed and memory comparison. SMS cursor bug fixed also.

Just realized though, if I go to my Contacts and try to dial from there...nothing happens when I hit the green talk key. I have to press the trackpad and the options open up...even the Menu key does nothing.

Someone else have the same issue?

Get a program called JL_Cmder and read instructions on that and how to use it, make sure that with that program you wipe the device and the reset it to factory with that program
then install the OS through the apploader program not desktop manager and you should be in the clear.

OTA = Over The Air ( installing wirelessly )
DM = Desktop Manager for the BlackBerry ( some also call it DTM )

Finally broke down and installed it. So far I'm loving it except I cant transfer all my downloads to the "downloads" tab on the home screen, and there was no pre installed "downloads" folder so I had to make one. Anyone know of a way to edit this?

Also, I'm sitting at only 60mb free now. A far cry from the 95mb I'm used to.

I like this version. I haven't installed any of the other betas cause I was holding out for an official release, but it just took too long for my limited patience. It's a bit slower and laggy compared to 5.0 but not in a way that makes me hate it. And haven't found any glitches that make it unusable or anything. A couple questions though:
- Is it possible to change the All, Favourites, Downloads sections on the main screen? I have no use for Downloads or Frequent, and wouldn't mind having a Messages container instead.
- is it possible to make the Berry button Open Tray by default, instead of popping up the menu to select Open Tray from there?

i think for all your questions it is unfortunately a no.

I have another issue in the calendar: in day view i can scroll left or right for the next/previous day. in the month view it works fine.

Re: Leaked OS: Bold 9700 6.0.0.418

about 3 hours into this and .418 is working fine --- so far. My biggest gripe about upgrading BB OS is that you have to manually reset your layout, new folders, etc. but working fine. No noticeable battery drain or memory leaks.

Re: Leaked OS: Bold 9700 6.0.0.418

Would be nice to get my week number display back like OS5. Am I missing something?

Edited: Seems like this is an OS6 thing in general? Why would a company doing business geared to the Enterprise remove this feature? Anyone dealing with European companies for sure deals in 'week number'.

It seems that RIM has indeed fixed the TMobile theme so that it's not necessary to remove it anymore.

Other then having to 'go to a specific day' by using the menu (when in Daily view) I haven't noticed any other scrolling problems in the calendar.

My biggest complaint in the calendar is not having the week number as an option in the display anymore.

Very funny (to me) thing happened after installing 418 and then restoring using DM: my brower home page was Google News. Now it's Google News Canada. Hey?

Still having issues with the browser shut downs (page too large, etc) and some third party apps (particularly Quick Launch and Viigo) but digging OS6 a lot.

Best.

Imo the battery life seems worse in this release.

I'm sticking with .344 because "if it ain't broken, don't fix it." My battery life is superb, and I'm reading conflicting reports of how this new OS affects it. The only issue with .344 for me is that I only have about 60 MB of free space, and after a day it I have about 50 MB and I'll need to do a battery pull before charging.

Re: Leaked OS: Bold 9700 6.0.0.418

Battery is way better. Last for up to 2 1/2 days
Memory improved since .380
Memory leaks seem more contained
Very stable over past few days
Scrolling across calendar days still a pain

Currently I have an OS 5.0.0.714 on my T-Mobile. Do I need to delete some kind of cod files? Can you write down a step by step instruction completely? Because the last time I attempted to upgrade it to OS 6 and it screwed (all theme icons came in black and white). Had to downgrade to OS 5.0.

Am starting to see odd behavior around SMS and UMA. Many times over the past 2 days I have had to "recycle" the connections to get an SMS message sent out.

A couple times it had "lost" any mobile network connection (I get 3G usually inside) and needed to refresh the connection.

Others it seemed to have lost my LAN (and ultimately, UMA) connection even though it showed as connected.

Anyone else having this?

Have done battery pull each day over past 3 days.

Working great!

Just one thing: how can I decrease the size of the font within the box on top of the home screen? The one that's showing your carrier, Wifi etc. - I suppose it isn't possible at all?

Dropped back to: 9700.6.0.0.358

The UMA/LAN/Wireless issues were really becoming annoying. It got to the point I had to drop/reconnect connections anytime I sent an SMS.

Hello Guys!

Can't get it to run on my 9700!

at the end of the OS installation I get the following msg:

The following modules could not be loaded because their digital signatures were invalid. net_rim_bb_qm_peer_lib.cod

Then then when the device reboots the progress gets stuck at the very end for a long while and then I get a white screen with "App 200 error" msg!

Appreciate it and Merry Xmas everyone :)

This has been an issue since the first betas of OS6. However, it has happened to me even when never going on to UMA. The only solution was to turn off the antenna and turn it back on. As soon as I did they went right through.

However, on a similar note, I have noticed in the last few builds issues with Google Talk (gchat) just dropping its connection with no way of knowing it is really offline. I miss IMs, IMs I send that APPEAR to go through never did, and it can stay disconnected (but saying it is) for hours like this with no way of knowing. It's gotten to where I have to go in to Google Talk every hour or so and sign out and back in just to make sure I am still really connected. I use Google Talk in place of SMS with a LOT of people so it's extremely annoying to not be getting messages, or sending messages that I later find out never actually did.

Anyone else noticed this? I don't know if it's the latest build of Google Talk even though I never saw this prior to OS6, OS6 not playing well, or maybe even a dropout when I go from UMA to regular tower signal. I HAVE noticed it happen when I have been in and out of UMA coverage, but have actually had it happen even when I don't, stay inside in UMA for a while, and also when I may have just been in and out of spotty coverage areas. Basically it appears to happen anywhere, but is more pronounced after leaving UMA.

Yes, I saw similar glitches. Most times I noticed when in UMA only because I spent more time inside then out. However, many times I would be driving and noticed either a text sent (supposedly) earlier had not actually gone after 30 minutes. I would then reset connections (hey, at least it's easier to do in OS6...) and things would be back to normal for a while. For me, it seemed to happen way more often then previous OS6 betas.

I have since downgraded to 2 builds prior (.352 I think) and have had none of the connection issues for 3 days now. No reset, no battery pull...

Just loaded this on my phone after a clean wipe with BBSAK.

This is the first version of v6.0 that plays the opening video, for me, without a glitch. All other versions seems to play very choppy.

I run flixster, facebook, google talk, google maps, google voice, citrix receiver, and scoremobile for blackberry and I have 53.2MB if free space.

BES Activation took about 15 minutes and this OS is flying compared to .380.

I have sent quite a few pictures via BBM and MMS and it doesn't seem to slow down like previous builds.

Overall this is a good step forward.

I'm not really impressed after using it for a while. It feels like it's not designed for the 9700. I went from 100mb free to 50 after a battery pull, and it drops quickly from there. Major memory leak issues here. It's also terrible at estimating my battery life. It's at it's worst while listening to Pandora. 50% to 8% is common within a time frame of a few minutes. The home screen is a whole other issue. The screen is just too small for the layout and there aren't enough custimization options :/

Sorry, I meant "close" the tray...that's what the escape key does at the home screen(s).

A quick "swipe" down the trackpad will open it, or the menu button has an "open tray" option that will do it as well. The Escape key will always close it.
