OS: 8310 4.5.0.52 / 4.5.0.37 vodafone.de

Software For BlackBerry Curve 8310 (TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.37 (Multilanguage)
This OS will load on any carrier's 8310 model as long the user follows the instructions below exactly as written.

Filename: 8310M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37

Package Version: 4.5.0.52
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.37
Software Platform: 2.7.0.55
File name: 8310M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37
File size:80 MB

Hilfe & Support / BlackBerry / BlackBerry-Handhelds / BlackBerry Curve 8310 vodafone.de

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click
HERE

*Note: During Beta testing of this OS on TMobile devices many sim cards were "fried" and had to be replaced and UMA didn't work. Load on TMo devices at your own risk.

Also, on all devices it's a good idea to make a backup of your media card before loading OS 4.5. Constant reboots can occur when using media cards formatted in OS 4.2 or 4.3 in OS 4.5. Then reformat the media card in OS 4.5 and restore your data.

*Note: While in Application Loader be sure and check the boxes to add Documents To Go to your device. Failure to install Documents To Go will cause java errors in some 3rd party apps.

krmtdfrg25 06-12-2008 08:54 AM

Legit??

I assume this is an official release of .37 being it is from Vodaphone. Whoever loads this let me know if it fixed the issues that were reported in the beta release of .37.

DacyJ 06-12-2008 09:03 AM

Wirelessly posted (by hammer and chisel)

Shurely it has since its a release but I could be wrong.

JSanders 06-12-2008 09:04 AM

It is an "official" release. Still though, this is the OS that had browser issues with entering text and clicking the submit button.

Other than that, it was a good release for me.

fully 06-12-2008 09:10 AM

Hi there
I'm in the Uk using the o2 network
Will this work on my 8310?

JSanders 06-12-2008 09:13 AM

fully, yes. As long as you follow then instructions in the first post, particularly #3, you will be fine.

ricpac 06-12-2008 09:29 AM

Cool! Now they're slowly coming out!

Thanks JS!

RadHaz75 06-12-2008 10:09 AM

is there any difference between this official release and the beta release of .37

JSanders 06-12-2008 10:26 AM

nope, there should not be, according to the release number, it would be the same.

A320Mech 06-12-2008 10:50 AM

I'm using it. I like the video camera and the fact that I can now watch YouTube. I used John's instructions on freeing up memory and I have 30.5mb and it seems to be running faster, especially the browser. My only problems are no more BBMaps on ATT and when I went to Google image search for a new wallpaper I couldn't click "see full size image" for some reason...

stever07 06-12-2008 11:06 AM

How is battery life with this version compared to 4.2?

A320Mech 06-12-2008 11:42 AM

Wirelessly posted (Dick Wiggler)

Battery life seems fine so far. My phone is always in sleep mode when I'm not using it though. Another bug I just found is I can't see most of what I'm rtyping right now. Half of the text input box is cut off!

CBR900RR 06-12-2008 12:46 PM

Cool, nice find.

roses2 06-12-2008 01:45 PM

Just installed this software and am still having the same problem with the camera - it takes about 30 seconds for the viewfinder followed by another 30 seconds for it to show the pic.

Is anyone else seeing this?

I downgraded to TIM 4.2 this afternoon & the camera was fine.

I really like the today theme, especially the way it displays emails. Does anyone know how I can save this theme to install if I downgrade back to the TIM 4.2 software? I can't cope with such a slow camera!

flash24 06-12-2008 01:51 PM

Here they come

A320Mech 06-12-2008 01:58 PM

Wirelessly posted (Dick Wiggler)

My camera and video are working fine. What's really pissing me off is this text input box!

stever07 06-12-2008 02:14 PM

Well I went back to 4.2. Camera was fine for me. Couldn't get Google Maps or SoftReset to work for me, deal breaker.

JSanders 06-12-2008 02:20 PM

Yea, I had to get past Google Maps not working, there were other and "better" apps out there, like LiveSearch.
http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...-maps-2-x.html

SoftReset won't work right now on later releases of 4.5, either.

moskatl 06-12-2008 02:46 PM

4.5

Could someone please remind me what the new capabilities of OS 4.5 are? Thanks

rdinterman 06-12-2008 02:50 PM

I just loaded on my ATT 8310. With Enterprise Activation it took over 90 minutes. I received an error that the back-up could not be restored. However, it did restore everything.
Camera and video camera working fine, no delay or speed issues. Both recording and playback are fine. I have not tested all my Apps, but this seems to be a winner.

JaguarXJ7 06-12-2008 03:15 PM

I am going to try and wait for the Rogers release, but I gotta tell ya, it's getting more difficult when I am reading positive feedback about other releases. Maybe by then some of the mentioned glitches will be fixed too. :)

afavreau 06-12-2008 03:47 PM

So, as a new blackberry user probably better for me to wait to download this new release?? I use google maps alot with my 8310 and do not want to lost that feature

jeffharris 06-12-2008 03:51 PM

Will I still have UMA available to me if I upgrade (UMA for T-Mo USA)?

You can not use this OS release to upgrade a 8320. This OS release is specific to the 8310.

shanahan meathorn 06-12-2008 04:16 PM

has anyone tried this upgrade on their 8320? the headline indicates its for 8310 with att...not sure if wifi is affected or if this release is good for any 83xx series??

Nope, this release only works for the 8310. You need to wait for the specific release for your device before you can install it onto your device.

It is device specific... 8310 only... It will not work on an 8320.

ilguy 06-12-2008 04:57 PM

I did the upgrade and my google maps works fine......

OVERKILL 06-12-2008 05:52 PM

Is there another thread that lists the advantages of 4.5?

greggebhardt 06-12-2008 06:16 PM

Just done with my update. Forgot how darn long that hour glass spun before the device woke up again. Video and voice recorder work really well!

I can not believe I have finally got a decent voice recorder!

Now I want the bold more than ever! BUIT, this is GREAT!

26.5mb FREE Memory after deleting PTT. YES!

Thanks JSanders!

ChestR_MolestR 06-12-2008 08:21 PM

2hrs15 mins to install. Damn thing scrubbed for most of that !!! But It was worth the wait !!!

Shaun 06-12-2008 09:16 PM

I have been running 4.5 for the past few hours without noticable issue. Google Maps, Google Synch, JiveTalk, teleNav all work, and the input fields are not cutting off for me.

The new features listed elsewhere make this worth the upgrade time.

justajason 06-12-2008 10:00 PM

Frickin' GROOVY!!!!!

p.s. Its a bit smaller than the Beta. I just checked and the Beta is a little over 90 megs. And this one is 80 and some change...

JSanders 06-12-2008 10:06 PM

Those that have loaded this vodafone.de verson .37--what's missing that makes it a smaller download? SlideshowToGo, DosToGo all there?

dilipc 06-12-2008 10:21 PM

Would this be better than the .42 beta which has been out for a few weeks now? I've been using the .42 for a week and have no problems yet.
Should I downgrade.... grateful for any advise..

I'll tell ya, after Ive got it running. But I looked at the code, and saw a doc viewer .cod somewhere..
Dont remember, I think my eyes were crossed looking for the OEM wallpapers...

No, this is older than the .42 release. This is known as .37.

Keep what you have.

justajason 06-12-2008 10:59 PM

Alrighty, It includes docs to go. So, I dont understand the size difference. But maybe the Beta' has some sort of hitchhikers somewhere..

It appears that this OS is legit. And it seems to work the way it was intentended.. I will give it some time, and see if I get any hangups..

justajason 06-12-2008 11:02 PM

Right now, Im testing the BBmaps mod. Not dragging and dropping from the older OS, but removing the LBS.ALX and the .cod's from the java folder, and performing a clean program install.I have also deleted the BBMaps servicebook.
Will let you guys know if I get it to work...

Before I could finish the post, I had BBMaps working.. Will test the GPS in a bit. Have to do some setting up...

justajason 06-12-2008 11:17 PM

OK. I cant remember what the browser issue was.. But this one is working...Can someone refresh my memory?

Sorry for the multiple posts.. but jivetalk is working.. and so is berry411.
GPS WORKS! BBMaps works.... OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

And i DO NOT have docs to go installed. ALL of my 3rd party apps work...
OMG! Im gonna DIE!!!!!! IT WORKS!!!

PS: I was just wondering, mine is a beta while a "regular" version has been released by Vodaphone. Will this make a difference on my BB's performance?

JDaveUSMC 06-13-2008 12:44 AM

Just installed .42. Everything is working perfectly.

owen824 06-13-2008 03:11 AM

nice one, just giving this a go. hopefully it is a lot better than .10 which i tried a couple of months ago and quickly reverted back. (y)

Completely remove the LBS.ALX and the LBS .cods from the java folder. And install the older version. Remove the service book, reboot and it should work...

I even re-sent the service books from Att and BBMaps is still there. And fully functional.
Just follow the instructions in this thread and you should be in buisness. Make sure you READ THE ENTIRE THREAD!! There are a couple of methods on this thread that will work. But ONE IS EASIER than the other....http://www.blackberryforums.com/beta...-os-4-5-a.html

SIM Card during OS upgrade

Does the SIM card need to be in the phone when upgrading the OS to 4.5? Since it seems to take a while, I thought it would be good to put the sim card in another phone so I can receive calls during the upgrade.

No Sir, in fact I turn the radio off to make sure no calls come in while in the upgrade.

I also removed my VP's sim card and stuck it in a 8820 this AM while his went thru his 45 minute upgrade and PTT removal. Worked fine

While upgrading, I make it a habit to not even touch the device while it is hooked up the cable. Any interuption is not good!

JSanders 06-13-2008 11:32 AM

^^Not a bad practice, there.

On the other hand, I have never removed the SIM for an upgrade. And lately, it seems, I have been upgrading about 1x week. :)

krmtdfrg25 06-13-2008 11:42 AM

I have another issue...When using BB Messanger, The messages I send do not go thrugh, they just have a clock icon next to them...Anyone experiencing this and know how to fix?

Yes I have never pulled the SIM either for an OS upgrade but my 2nd in command wanted me to update his OS to 4.5 this am and yet we get a heavy call volume from the employees so I knew he had to have a phone!

I did not like the way he looked at my 8820! He said if there were a camera on the 8820, I would never see it again! I told him to be patient as I will be buying two Bolds next month! The new os is only to wet your whistle!

wirless sync

Installed 4.5 everything appears to be working but I can't wirelessly sync. Do I need to do another enterprise activation? Help please

justajason 06-13-2008 01:30 PM

Here's my dilemma. The OS works great. No real hangups. But now I can't get my calendar to sync with outlook 07. I've cleared the databases. And tried to resync. I've deleted the intellisync folder, and tried and no dice. The DM is the earlier version. That worked on the other betas. But not this official for me. So far my addy book, tasks, and noted will sync, but no calendar. Really strange. Any more suggestions?

Ugrade on AT&T

If I ugrade the Vodafone version and I am on AT&T, do I lose anything? For example, MediaNet? Do I have to resend service books or anything like that?

If you didn't have bes running through desktop manager at the time of the upgrade then yes you will have to re-activate it.

No, you lose nothing., even MediaNet.

You might need to resend Service Books, I don't recall needing to do so after an OS upgrade, but you may.

Did you load the DocumentsToGo application? If you didn't, you must do so for JiveTalk and a few other third party applications to work.

An OS upgrade normally (always has for me) restored all my messages and BBM contacts. If you did a backup (very wise) before upgrading, do a Restore, Advanced.

Freeing up memory

I just loaded the 4.5 OS and then noticed that I have just under 7,000,000 Bytes of free memory.

I did a search on freeing up memory and saw John Clark's excellent post on freeing up memory during an install of an OS.

Unfortunately, I just installed the OS, so I would rather not do it again.

What would be the best way to delete PTT and other memory-hogging apps without having to re-load the OS?

Using Johns top-notch tips are the only way... delete the cod files in the java folder. Works great. It's a pain with rewards :)

Yes, because you didn't load the Docs2Go modules? That is the error and fix other users all over are reporting.

Don't know why, Docs2Go not being loaded is the reason, though.

Yep, but many many others do that that exact bug in the text entry box (like a password, or reply form) in the browser. And many of the 'submit" or 'click here' links won't work. I had it, also.

One way work around is to go to your Browser > Options > General Properties > and UNcheck "Enable Cursor in Column View"

JSanders 06-13-2008 04:47 PM

If you haven't done anything to the OS, no need to install the OS again to the PC from scratch: Just follow the instructions... edit the alx file, and remove the PTT cod files as he directs.

Follow the instructions to the tee on getting rid of PTT and it only takes a second for the DM to detect that PTT should not be there and remove it. It only takes a few seconds but then reboots your phone and you are good to go.

One way work around is to go to your Browser > Options > General Properties > and UNcheck "Enable Cursor in Column View"

Sorry I missed that. Thanks8-)

Did you do a battery pull or anything because neither solves the issue for me. Its not a big issue. Its only these forums so far that are giving me trouble, aside from google image search.

Great. So I was able to reinstall and now it has no errors, but a couple wierd things exist

1. Opera Mini can no longer connect to internet. Went to advanced options, applications, and set connections, interactions, and user data all to "ALLOW". Still no luck - says cannot connect to interenet.

2. For some reason, Facebook isn't showing up on my home page? I thought it deleted it, then I went to applications and it says its still listed. Checked to see if it was hidden, but its not - its just not on the desktop. So I deleted, and ran into problem 3.

3. Tried to download Facebook OTA, but cannot get by the first terms and condition page, located here: http://www.blackberry.com/facebook/mobiledownload

You have to choose the "accept" radio dial, except when you do, the browser won't let you hit "Next". It doesn't see it as a button. What is going on? Obviously I'm not too impressed with the browser, so tried using Opera Mini - but due to problem 1, can't do that either.

CRAP!!!

Latest OS problem loading

I went exactly by the instructons. When it asks to upgrade, I click on update now. The box closes and nothing happens. Have any idea what's going on? I have the 8310 curve.

could someone please post a link to these directions. I would love to unload PTT and free up memory. Thanks

Did you delete the Vendor.xml file?

Problem with OS

Yes I did. I even deleted the BB 4.5 and reinstalled it and took the vendor.xml out again. It does the same thing.

Tried to downgrade from .42 and now Im stuck with the error 205... Trying the solutions in those related threads, though IM not downgrading to 4.1... Bah this is taking forever

wjackson81 06-13-2008 11:51 PM

well, I didnt have to us JLCommander. I plugged it in to my pc and opened desktop manager while the hour glass was spinning. After going to connection settings and detecting, I chose the apploader and after the 10 minute reboot Im currently in the erasing apps phase. Hopefully this will work otherwise Im going to shoot my pc and the blackberry!

It's a sticky in the general blackberry forum - talking about freeing up memory to prevent SMS and logs from disappearing.

All is good in blackberry land... What a thrilling way to spend my friday night.

wjackson81 06-14-2008 12:31 AM

Prior to the first installation I followed all of the free up memory thread stuff, but I deleted the LBS.alx file. Is this what caused the error?

dilipc 06-14-2008 02:33 AM

I have downgraded from .42 to this official release .37, all is good. No problems so far on ANY issue!
