this should increase the memory.

Yeah it did reduce my memory quite a bit, from 27Mb to 21Mb. Its not at 10Mb right now, I'm just afraid that installing many apps will lower my application memory to a constant 10Mb, I'll do a battery pull soon, is it normal for my application memory to drop like this after only installing App World? This is the lowest my memory has ever been, I've seen it drop to 18 a few minutes ago, my memory is always in the high 20's and between 30 and 45 after baterry pull. I usually do a battery pull once a week, my last one was Saturday.

Not sure, mine was about 52MB before installing and about 51MB after (though it wont open for me yet).
After using it, the memory might go down because im sure a few posts ago someone mentioned its a memory hog.

Getting the following message "Blackberry App Worlds is having trouble connecting to the Blackberry App World server. Verify your network connnections and try again".

Anyone have this and how did you get connected?

They all install to the device memory by default! If you want to get them on the SD card you need to use a 3rd party application. Check this thread for more info:

Im running TMobile Pearl 8120 with OS 4.5 and it tells me " failed to transmit " and cool! my thread was stickied!

VZW 8830 OS 4.5.x on BES in US and it says I don't meet the minimum system requirements. Huh?

[Edit: Working now. Although the sys req don't state it, looks like it requires > 5MB memory free]

yo_fishy 04-01-2009 09:10 AM

I am getting the same message, AT&T 8310 4.5.x on US BES. When I hook up to USB and try to download through the desktop computer I receive "unspecified error"??? This should work with an 8310 curve right?

[*EDIT: I was able to download and install]

dstaff 04-01-2009 09:10 AM

I have a Pearl 8130 with os 4.5.0.131 on Telus, and it installed like a charm ...
Now I have to remove unwanted apps to make room for all the new ones I will install ... ;-)

I wasn't particularly impressed either, Scott. I do think, however, that we may be unjustly expecting more from the initial rollout. BlackBerry applications have been strewn around every corner of the internet for so long now, it might take a while to get them corralled into one location, App World. And of course, just rolling this out is going to turn on a lot of lightbulbs for would-be aspiring developers, I'm sure....Let's see how this pans out over the next 6 months.

Working great for me. I think it looks pretty slick, navigation was also a bit slow for me. I'm interested to see how it changes over time.

murpheous 04-01-2009 09:54 AM

I can't download it, it keeps timing out.

doabbs 04-01-2009 09:56 AM

Awesome app, one of the toughest things has always been keeping up on new must have apps. My only complaint is they need to specify between applications that are "TRIALS" and ones that are actually "FREE". I've downloaded a couple apps to then realize that they aren't FREE they are actually eval or trail versions.

VZW Curve 8330 here and had no problems witht he download and intall.

mjbanks 04-01-2009 10:04 AM

I have two questions about App World:

1. Does it check for an manage application updates?

2. I have a couple paid apps that are now available in App World (QuickLaunch is one). If App World manages updates, is there any way to integrate your current purchases into the program so it can check for application updates for those you already own?

I'm getting the same error using both an AT&T Bold and a Verizon Storm. Wondering if it could be IT Policy related (on a corporate BES)?

WillJitsu 04-01-2009 10:13 AM

Is there a way to get App World to recognize that you have some of the apps installed already or do I need to download them again and overwrite them?

murpheous 04-01-2009 10:14 AM

the d/l is working now for me.
