Iretired a number of years ago after spending the majority of my career workingin testing and calibration labs and relocated to the northeast. I wrote calibration procedures and was thecalibration procedure release focal for the largest aerospace manufacture inthe U.S.A. My main area of expertise was in dimensional metrology. I alsoparticipated in writing many ASME B89 dimensional metrology standards.
1.)RestoredNewport Labs 200A/S-3 digital panel meter.
2.)Installednew power supply transformer on EPC1216 motherboard.
3.)Replaced(24) carbon composition resistors with carbon film resistors on EPC1215 oscillatorpc board.
4.)Onoscillator pc board, set oscillator to 5kHz (within factory spec +/- 200Hz)(using Hewlett Packard 53131A Universal Counter) and output to 1.00 V (usingKeithley 177 Digital Multimeter).
5.)Replaced(20) carbon composition resistors with carbon film resistors on EPC1214 amplifierdemodulator pc board.
6.)Replaced(17) carbon composition resistors with carbon film resistors on EPC1216motherboard.
7.)Testedelectrolytic capacitors on EPC1214 and EPC1216 pc boards for value, leakage andESR utilizing a Sencore LC-102.
8.)CheckedBourns (wire-wound) zeroing potentiometer for erratic operation with Keithley177 Digital Multimeter. Repair, clean or replace, as necessary.
9.)Cleanand lubricate TRW/Cinch connectors and 8 pin socket.
10.) Replaced oval 3 pin power socket withIEC socket.
11.) Top cover was painted a number ofyears ago. There are now some nicks and scratches on it.
12.)a.Set front panel “CAL” (200 ohm) potentiometer to middle of the range.
Iperformed a “functional test” only of the amplifier.
1.)Depressing the gaging head, I was able to deflect the meter momentfrom left to right of full scale. (NOTE: For purposes of the photos, I simplyused the reversing switch on the gaging amplifier.)
2.)Using a Boeckeler micrometer head, I was able to perform arudimentary adjustment of the “cal” potentiometer on the amplifier.
