This valve is a two-way, normally closed, direct-lift valveand does not require a minimum differential pressure to operate. When the coilis de-energized (no power), the plunger and flexible diaphragm sit on the mainvalve orifice. The working medium flows through a tiny \"bleed hole\"and pressurizes the chamber above the diaphragm - this system pressure, alongwith the spring force, seals the valve closed. When the valve is energized(power on), the diaphragm is pulled away from the main orifice, allowing fluidto flow through the valve. Since the bleed hole is dimensionally smaller thanthe main orifice, the system pressure cannot rebuilt on the top of thediaphragm as long as the main orifice remains open. The flow direction isindicated by the arrow on the valve body.
ALL standard valves are supplied with Continuous Duty Coils of the proper classof insulation for the service indicated on the valve. It is normal for the coiltemperature to become hot after being energized for extended periods. Smoke orburning odor indicates excessive coil temperature and the power should bedisconnected to the coil immediately.
